We all know how DECIEM had taken the SkinCare world by storm by introducing The Ordinary Brand consisting of active ingredients in their Skincare products.
I have used numerous Ordinary Products in the past 3 years, and none seem to have stayed in my vanity except this one. Read on to find why .
So what does Glycolic Acid does to your skin ?
When applied to the skin, Glycolic acid breaks the bonds between the outer layer of the skin that includes the dead skin and the next skin layer. This creates a peeling effect that makes skin appear smoother, more even, boosts radiance and restores skin clarity.
It works as an effective exfoliator and tends to make larger pores appear smaller.
Directions (by the Brand): Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than once per day. After cleaning, saturate a cotton pad with the formula and sweep across face and neck. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes.
My Thoughts :
I purchased this Glycolic Acid Toner from BeautyBay.com through a friend in UK for around 7pounds. I’ve used this one for more than a year, obviously my second bottle. But it is also available on Amazon now.
The packaging is not at all fancy , its the usual Ordinary packaging that comes in a huge transparent plastic bottle with a screw cap and can be replaced by a dropper cap.Basic and minimalist as I would like to call it.
To be honest, I am sometimes hesitatant in using any acids directly on to my face(except Hyaluronic Acid), and mostly keep that thing to be handled by my dermatologist.
But here my review is not how I use it for my face ,but on to other parts of my body.
I use this one for pigmentation on my neck and for KP(Keratosis Pilaris/Chicken Skin) on my arms and legs.
I use my Miniso makeup remover cotton pads, saturate them with the toner, rub and sweep across my neck, arms and legs. The consistency and texture is like that of water but kind of slippery. Since I use white/pink cottons pads, I can obviously see the amount of gunk and dead skin that comes off after using this toner.
It makes the skin on my neck, arms and legs appear smoother and brighter and I could see my skin becoming more even than earlier. I use this before I have my bath. Although it is mentioned to not wash and it can be kept as is after using but I do not like the sticky/tacky and slippery feel it gives on my body. Hence I prefer bathing after using this one. I do not use it everytime I have a bath but twice or thrice weekly. And later I use my moisturiser that has an SPF in it and apply all over.
I did not see any changes with the reduction in pore size or help with pore congestion whatsoever,As I feel AHA’s tend to work on the outer layer of the skin and do not penetrate deep onto the layers as BHA’s do.
Overall, I am super impressed and for me this is the most gentler way for my body exfoliation.
Some Do’s & Dont’s
